Contact Christine:

Hello, I'm Christine Phillips,

(@krs__design)

Hi, I’m Christine Phillips, and hairstyling runs deep in my family—it's in my blood. I graduated from the Paul Da Costa Institute in 1997 and have been proudly part of the Aveda family ever since. My journey with Aveda has allowed me to hone my craft and continually grow through advanced education from some of the top professionals in the industry, specializing in hair cutting and coloring.

Every guest who sits in my chair is unique, and my goal is always to create a calm, personalized experience. Together, we work to design a look that not only suits your hair but also complements your lifestyle and styling preferences. I believe in building meaningful relationships with my guests, which allows for a more tailored, creative, and enjoyable experience.

There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone leave feeling confident and amazing—like a million bucks!

How many years in the industry?

25+ years.

What is your favourite service to provide and why?

I absolutely love a beautiful classic highlight and cut transformation! There’s something so satisfying about bringing out the natural beauty and full potential of a client’s hair. It’s a perfect mix of creativity and technique that allows me to highlight the uniqueness of each person’s style.

And let’s not forget about those rich, vibrant red tones—they’re always a favorite! There’s something so bold and exciting about them, and they can completely elevate a look. I’m always thrilled to see a client walk out with their hair looking vibrant, refreshed, and full of life!

What do you love most about guest services?

My clients are like my second family! I truly cherish our time together. Whether it’s catching up on life, hearing about grandkids, pets, a daughter’s wedding, or the latest restaurant recommendation, it’s always a highlight of my day. But what I love most is making my clients feel absolutely fantastic—leaving my chair with a boost of confidence and a smile. It's the connection we share that makes this job so rewarding. It’s not just about the hair; it’s about the people and the positive, uplifting experiences we create together!

What is an accomplishment you're proud of?

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is being a 10-year cancer survivor! It’s been an incredibly transformative journey, and it’s given me a whole new perspective on life, strength, and resilience. It’s something that has shaped who I am, and I carry that sense of gratitude and perseverance into everything I do—especially when it comes to making my clients feel their best. Every day is a reminder of how precious life is, and I’m so thankful for this milestone!

Tell me about a goal you have professionally and personally?

Professionally, my goal is to be remembered for my artistry, just as my great-grandmother and grandparents were in the industry. They left a legacy of excellence, and I would love to continue that tradition. In fact, I once had a client in my chair who shared a story about her stylist in Saskatchewan—and it turned out to be my grandfather! It was such a special moment, and it reminded me of how deeply intertwined our family is in the beauty industry. I hope to carry that torch and make my own mark, creating beautiful work and meaningful connections along the way.

Personally, my goal is to work on being more patient—something my husband would probably be most appreciative of!  It’s a constant learning process, but I’m always striving to be a better version of myself, both in my professional and personal life.

What is something your guests might not know about you?

One thing my guests might not know is that I was an assistant coach for swimming in the Special Olympics. It was such a rewarding experience, and it taught me so much about perseverance, teamwork, and the incredible strength of the human spirit. Being part of that community gave me a deeper appreciation for every individual’s unique abilities and the power of encouragement. It’s a chapter in my life that I’ll always hold close to my heart!
